REDed’s Curricular Programs at your School

At REDed, we are passionate about providing the best quality dance education that supports and sustains a healthy school environment and aligns with the National curriculum.

We acknowledge the important role dance education plays in the interpersonal growth of young people. Our focus at REDed is to engage students in a collaborative and progressive movement environment while developing their coordination, confidence and fundamental gross motor skills in a safe and inclusive learning space.

In 2024, REDed is proud to integrate First Nations creative movement practices and processes into our existing Curricular Programs as a result of our ongoing collaboration with Bangarra Dance Theatre – an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation and one of Australia’s leading Performing Arts companies. With a First Nations lens, students and teachers have the opportunity to access individual and personal connections to the self, community and country through movement-based storytelling.

Read on to learn more about our Curricular Programs, how we are currently supporting schools across Australia and to how access our new REDed Curricular offers.

Our Curricular Programs

All REDed face-to-face Dance Programs are curriculum-aligned and meet compulsory dance requirements. The Elements of Dance (Space, Time, Dynamics and Relationships) are fundamental to absolutely everything that we deliver, and we weave that language into all of our classes and lessons, creating space for the students to apply and use similar instinctive dialogue as they journey through the stages of dance curriculum.

Along with helping students engage with dance, REDed aims to make compulsory dance requirements a smooth and enjoyable experience for teachers. That way, we can eliminate unnecessary time for teachers in research and documentation and instead, offer more time connecting to the students’ journey!

Ways We’re Supporting Schools

Our programs can be adapted to schools to achieve the curriculum outcome desired, showing our commitment to enhancing school curricula through dynamic and culturally enriching dance programs. Over the last term, REDed has supported schools in a variety of ways including:

Year 5 & 6 Activity

At St Pius Junior School (NSW), REDed organised a high-energy school house dance-off competition for Year 5 and 6 students. This curriculum-aligned program helped foster creativity in both individual and group settings, with a parent showcase at the end of the program. We also visited Montmorency South Primary School (VIC), where we conducted a dance session as a part of the school’s afternoon sports program, enriching students’ experiences with an engaging dance activity.

Refugee Week

REDed hosted full school dance workshops during Refugee Week at St Anthony’s Clovelly (NSW), themed “Finding Freedom: Family,” focusing on cultural dances that deeply engaged students.

First Nations Lens Program

During Term 2 we visited Parklands Christian School (QLD), where we integrated our First Nations Lens Program into assessment week while also including a performance outcome. We will visit Campbell’s Creek Primary School (VIC) this term to conduct a three-day workshop culminating in a community performance.

Open Day Events

Collaborating with Ascham School (NSW), REDed contributed to their Open Day performances with a concept focusing on elemental forces, creating a diverse and creative presentation choreographed by senior instructor Shelley Moore.

“The Open Day Assembly was a vibrant showcase of our students’ dedication, creativity and collaborative spirit. Throughout the past term, they have enjoyed crafting dance and choral performances that beautifully interpreted the unique qualities of the elemental forces: Earth, Wind, Water and Fire. These elements, rich in symbolism, also served as powerful metaphors for the dynamic learning on display.” – Peta Howley, Head of Junior School at Ascham
